Ryan Stoddart, known by his stage name Bandzema, is a rising star in the music industry, captivating audiences with his unique blend of amapiano and house music. Born in Zimbabwe, Ryan’s early life was marked by challenges that fueled his passion for music. Raised by his mother, he found solace in the melodies and rhythms that surrounded him, providing a much-needed escape from the harsh realities of his environment.
At the age of 12, Ryan moved to South Africa to live with his father, seeking stability and new opportunities. However, life in South Africa was fraught with its own set of difficulties, as they frequently moved to escape the violence and unrest that plagued their neighborhood. Despite these hardships, Ryan’s love for music only grew stronger. He began producing beats, channeling his emotions and experiences into his art, and finding a voice through the sounds of amapiano and house music.
Six years later, Ryan relocated to England, where he decided to pause his music production to pursue a course in graphic design. This decision was driven by his desire to gain the skills necessary to create his own cover art and eventually edit his own music videos. Upon completing his course, Ryan resumed his music career, and Bandzema began to gain recognition across different countries, resonating with listeners through his authentic and heartfelt compositions.
Bandzema’s journey has not been without its struggles. He has faced significant challenges, including domestic violence, which took a toll on his mental health. During these dark times, music became his lifeline, offering a means of expression and a way to cope with the overwhelming weight of his experiences. Bandzema’s music is not just a creative outlet but a beacon of hope for others going through similar struggles, reminding them that they are not alone.
Inspired by artists like Trippie Redd, Bandzema admires the versatility and genre-blending style that defies traditional boundaries. This inspiration is evident in Bandzema’s music, which often mixes different genres and sounds, creating a unique and eclectic style that captivates his audience. His work is a testament to the power of music to transcend cultural and geographical boundaries, connecting people through shared emotions and experiences. Currently, Bandzema is working on a new EP titled “Tranquility,” which aims to offer listeners a peaceful escape from the chaos of everyday life. Through this project, he hopes to create a serene and uplifting experience, further cementing his place in the music industry as an artist.
