Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

How NoFortune uses cookies and similar technologies on its website, magazine, and marketplace, and how you can control them.

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how NoFortune ("NoFortune," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies, web beacons, local storage, and similar tracking technologies (collectively, "cookies") when you visit our website, read our magazine, or use our marketplace at nofortune.com (the "Service"). This Cookie Policy is part of and incorporated into our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which also apply to your use of the Service.

By using the Service, you consent to the use of cookies as described in this Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Service. You may also disable or limit cookies as described below, though some features may not work properly.

2. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, tablet, or other device) by the websites you visit. They allow the website to recognize your device, remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, and collect certain information about your use of the Service.

Cookies are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site owners. "First-party cookies" are set by the website you are visiting. "Third-party cookies" are set by a domain other than the one you are visiting โ€” for example, by an analytics or advertising provider. "Session cookies" are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser. "Persistent cookies" remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

We group the cookies we use into the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies. These are essential for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. They enable core features such as account authentication, shopping cart, checkout, and security. Without them, parts of the Service will not work.
  • Functional cookies. These allow the Service to remember your preferences and choices (such as a referral attribution token or selected category filters) to provide a more personalized experience.
  • Performance and analytics cookies. These help us understand how visitors interact with the Service so we can measure and improve performance. They collect aggregated, non-identifying information such as pages visited, time on site, and error messages.
  • Advertising and marketing cookies. Where used, these may be set by us or third parties to deliver relevant advertising and to measure the performance of advertising campaigns, including on third-party platforms.

4. Cookies and Technologies We Use

The Service uses the following cookies and similar technologies for the purposes described below. Specific cookie names, providers, and expiration periods may change as we update the Service.

  • Session and authentication cookies: recognize your logged-in session and keep your account secure while you use the marketplace and partner portal.
  • Shopping cart cookies / local storage: remember the items in your cart and your builder selections as you browse and build an order.
  • Referral attribution: store the partner referral token you arrived with (for example, a nf_upline_ref value) so that commissions can be attributed correctly when you sign up or order.
  • Preference storage: remember your language, layout, display, and filter preferences.
  • Analytics: collect aggregate usage statistics about how the Service is used and how it performs.
  • Security and fraud prevention: help detect abuse, bot activity, and unauthorized access attempts.

We also use browser local storage and similar client-side storage to persist data such as your cart, referral token, and login email. Local storage works similarly to persistent cookies but is managed through your browser's storage controls rather than its cookie settings.

5. Third-Party Cookies

We do not control the cookies set by third parties. The Service may integrate with third-party services that may set their own cookies, including:

  • Payment processing (Stripe): uses cookies for fraud prevention and to secure checkout sessions, in accordance with its own cookie and privacy practices.
  • Analytics and measurement providers: may use cookies to understand traffic and performance.
  • Social and advertising platforms: where we embed content or run campaigns, those platforms may set cookies subject to their own policies.
  • Messaging and support tools: any third-party chat or messaging widget may set its own cookies.

Each third party manages its own cookies and has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the policies of any third-party service you interact with. We are not responsible for the cookie practices of third parties.

6. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies to:

  • Recognize you and keep you signed in;
  • Operate and maintain the Service, including the marketplace cart, checkout, and partner portal;
  • Remember your preferences, filters, and selections;
  • Attribute referrals and calculate affiliate commissions;
  • Measure performance and understand usage trends;
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security issues;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

8. Managing and Disabling Cookies

You have several options for controlling cookies:

  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or alert you before they are set. You can usually manage cookies in your browser's "Settings," "Preferences," or "Privacy" menu. You can also delete cookies already stored on your device.
  • Opt-out tools: Some third parties (such as analytics and advertising networks) offer opt-out mechanisms or browser add-ons that prevent their cookies from being used.
  • Do Not Track: see the section below.
  • Local storage: you can clear local storage from your browser's site data controls.

Blocking or deleting cookies may affect the functionality of the Service. For example, you may be logged out, your cart may not persist, and referral attribution may be lost.

9. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. Because there is no consistent industry standard for how DNT signals should be interpreted, we do not currently respond to DNT signals as a basis for changing our cookie practices. If and when a standard is established, we will update this Cookie Policy accordingly. You can still control cookies using the other methods described in this policy.

10. Cookie Retention

The length of time a cookie stays on your device depends on its type and purpose. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until they reach their expiration date, you delete them, or your browser settings remove them. We keep cookies only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention is required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

11. Children's Information

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly use cookies to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at legal@nofortune.com and we will take reasonable steps to delete such information.

12. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding the personal information collected through cookies, including the right to access, correct, or delete that information and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at legal@nofortune.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

13. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will indicate when the policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Cookie Policy.
