Seattle has always had talent, but the industry hasn’t always paid attention. That’s where MrBenjamin comes in. As a music executive, mentor, and community leader, he has made it his life’s work to bridge the gap between local artists and industry opportunities.
His journey started over 25 years ago, and today, he is the driving force behind Seattle Music Is Real, a platform designed to showcase independent artists through media, touring, and digital exposure.
His work has been fueled by the late DJ Nasty Nes, the first major industry figure to support Seattle hip-hop artists like Sir Mix-a-Lot. That influence helped shape MrBenjamin’s approach to mentorship and artist development, ensuring that Seattle’s hip-hop culture continues to grow.
Today, his vision is coming to life, with artists like MariBased1, JWavy, and Stakk Wittz leading the charge. His nonprofit, The SMIRED Foundation, is also providing vital resources for emerging artists and creatives.
Seattle’s time is now. The world is paying attention.
